Homeowners Insurance
Homeowners insurance covers losses and damages to an individual(s) residential property and to assets in the home. Homeowners insurance also provides liability coverage against accidents in the home or on the property. This insurance coverage applies to primary residences as well as rental properties.
Renter’s Insurance
Renter’s Insurance covers a policyholder’s belongings, liabilities and possibly living expenses in case of a loss event. Renter’s insurance is available to individuals renting or subletting a single-family home, apartment, duplex, condo, studio, loft or townhome. The policy protects against losses to the tenant’s personal property within the rented property. In addition, a renter’s insurance policy protects against losses resulting from liability claims, such as injuries occurring on the premises that are not due to a structural problem with the property.
Condo Insurance
Condo insurance protects a condo unit owner’s personal property and the interior of their unit. Most condo association’s coverage stops after the exterior walls, so the unit owner is responsible for the interior walls and possibly fixtures. Condo insurance also provides liability protection for bodily injury or property damage to others.
Auto
Auto insurance protects from the financial risks that could be incurred by hurting other individual(s) or damaging property with your vehicle. It also covers damages to your vehicle caused by yourself or another party. The main components of car insurance are liability coverage, both for bodily injury and property damage; personal injury protection, which helps you and you the people in your car; collision coverage, for damage to your car in an accident; comprehensive coverage, for the theft or vandalism of your car when it’s not being driven.
Boat/Watercraft
Boat insurance covers damage to an individual’s boat, motor, trailer and personal items in the boat. It also protects the boat owner against liability should they cause an accident that damages another boat or someone else’s property or injures someone who is not a passenger on their boat. The coverage helps protect the boat whether it’s on water or land. It is important to note that a boat is NOT COVERERD by Homeowners insurance.
Flood
Flood insurance covers water damages as a result of rising bodies of lakes, rivers, streams and oceans. Homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage at all. Coverage can be purchased for the structure as well as personal property. Coverage for the structure includes the home and its foundation, plumbing and electrical systems, central air and heating systems, appliances and flooring.
Personal Umbrella
An umbrella insurance policy is extra liability insurance coverage that goes beyond the limits of the insured’s home, auto or watercraft insurance. It provides an added layer of security to those who are at risk of being sued for damages to other people’s property or injuries caused to others in an accident. It also protects against libel, vandalism, slander and invasion of privacy. An Umbrella policy is very helpful when the individual is sued and the dollar limit of the original policy has been exhausted. Please note that Umbrella policies require specific limits for the underlying insurance coverages.
Personal Articles Floater
A personal articles floater is used to insure valuable personal property that often requires more coverage than what is provided by an insured’s homeowners policy, due to various exclusions and limitations on homeowner’s coverage. The personal articles floater can be used to insure the following categories of personal property: jewelry, furs, fine arts, cameras, bicycles, musical instruments, silverware/china/crystal, stamps/coin collections, guns, golfer’s equipment. These items have limited coverage on the Homeowners insurance policy so the personal articles floater allows the individual to have coverage in place for the full replacement cost of these items.
