In September 2022, Ford introduced the redesigned 2023 Super Duty, although it wasn’t yet ready to reveal the truck’s specifications. The figures are now out, and they are impressive. Let’s not go back in time, but a regular customer heavy-duty pickup truck packing 500 horsepower and pulling 40,000 pounds would have looked inconceivable a few years ago.

Yet here we are with the 2023 Super Duty, a truck that can pull, haul, and produce more horsepower and torque than any other vehicle in its class. The numbers keep rising, and it isn’t easy to keep up with them because they keep creeping higher. Let’s briefly discuss some of the new Super Duty figures while keeping in mind that they aren’t everything—or are they?

Ford recently unveiled the 2023 Super Duty pickup trucks, presenting an updated exterior with a squared-off face and prominent grilles and improved interiors with an optional 12.0-inch touchscreen. The 7.3-liter gas-fed V-8 and the 6.7-liter diesel-guzzler were joined by a new 6.8-liter gasoline-powered V-8 when the Super Duty debuted.

Ford has unveiled the official towing numbers for the 2023 Super Duty series, blowing away its competition with a maximum available towing capability of 40,000 pounds. The Ram HD’s maximum weight of 37,090 pounds and the Chevrolet Silverado HD’s maximum weight of 36,000 pounds puts the Blue Oval far ahead of its heavy-duty rivals.

Even the Ford F-350, a step-down, allows you to tow 38,000 pounds with a gooseneck trailer. Additionally, Ford asserts that Super Duty has a payload capacity of 8,000 pounds, which is several hundred pounds more than its rivals, Chevy and Ram, and that it is best in class for conventional towing, with a maximum capacity of 30,000 pounds.

Additionally, Ford has disclosed the 2023 Super Duty’s horsepower and torque figures. Beginning the race with 405 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, the new 6.8-liter is followed by the more powerful 7.3-liter, which retains 430 hp and 485 pound-feet of torque. However, the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel comes in two outputs and is the true towing king.

The High Output specification increases the basic model’s 475 horsepower and 1050 pound-feet of torque to a staggering 500 horsepower and 1200 pound-feet. The only available transmission is a 10-speed automatic, starting with the XLT model; four-wheel drive is a standard feature. Obviously, those best payload and hauling numbers come from two different trucks.

One can also contend that none matters because the aforementioned trucks are essentially exceptional unicorns with best-in-class status due to their highly unique specifications (rather than the more typical, widely accessible standard Super Duty). Towing will be made simpler by the Super Duty vehicles’ advanced technology.

For incense, there’s Pro Trailer Hitch Assist to assist you in attaching the hitch ball to the receiver, as well as an optional 360-degree video and onboard scales to help with weight distribution. Ford has recently revealed that the truck lineup will start at $45,765, and the 2023 Super Duty deliveries will begin in the early part of the following year.
