2023 Toyota Sequoia Vs. 2022 Ford Expedition: Here’s How These SUVs Compare

To make the Sequoia a more viable option when compared to other full-size three-row SUVs, Toyota completely redesigned it for the 2023 model year. The Ford Expedition falls under this. In this full-size SUV competition between the 2022 Ford Expedition and the all-new 2023 Toyota Sequoia, see how the Sequoia prevails.

Performance and Towing

The Toyota Sequoia 2023 has an advantage in terms of performance. A hybrid system called the iForce MAX powers every Sequoia model, producing 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engines are available in three different configurations for the 2022 Ford Expedition.

The standard model has 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, while the optional models have 400 horsepower and 480 horsepower and 440 horsepower, and 510 horsepower, respectively. The Expedition holds a tiny advantage in terms of towing. Compared to the Sequoia’s 9,000 pounds, it can tow a maximum of 9,300 pounds.

Styling at Both Ends of the Spectrum

The Expedition appears largely unchanged from before: Its sleek, uncomplicated design and crisp lines help to downplay its size. Even though the Toyota appears to be a considerably larger SUV when parked next to the Sequoia, the two vehicles are only a few millimeters apart in size. That’s because Toyota’s style is different:

Unlike Ford’s on-road appearance, it is significantly more blocky, aggressive, and designed to look like an off-road vehicle. Both are regarded as Limited trim levels, but the Expedition goes one better with the Stealth Edition Performance Package, which includes blacking out a lot of the trim, adding large painted wheels, and giving the truck the sportiest appearance possible a two-box, seven-passenger, pickup-based SUV.

The Sequoia’s Limited trim emphasizes details, giving it a more trail-ready appearance, including the fender flares finished in contrasting black. Since the customer’s preference on the matter plays a part, this is a purely subjective choice. Want to appear forceful and blocky? Toyota excels at it. Looking for a slicker, more upscale urban vibe? The Ford is spot on.

Interior With a High Tech Feel

The interior of the 2023 Toyota Sequoia has undergone a significant and remarkable redesign. The dull and uninteresting dashboard has been replaced with a colorful and contemporary design that boasts luxury, technology, and large screens.

The Toyota Tundra and this vehicle both feature a sizable 14-inch infotainment display. It receives the newest and best software, further enhancing the experience. The Sequoia is available in seven- and eight-row layouts, with the three-row layout, now being the norm.

A massive 12-inch vertical infotainment screen is now a standard feature on the Ford Expedition. Strong software support comes from Ford’s newest SYNC4 user interface. It has all the newest bells and whistles as well as OTA capability. The seating arrangement is a little roomier than the Toyota’s, particularly with the MAX specification.

Safety

In terms of safety, The Sequoia and Expedition are comparable. Both SUVs are equipped with security and driving aids like lane departure warning, stability control, brake assist, a blind-spot monitoring system, and rear parking assistance.

Simply said, adults can sit comfortably in the third row of the Expedition but not the Sequoia. You can hold Ford’s independent rear suspension responsible for choosing a solid back axle. The Sequoia falls short of meeting two essential requirements for full-size SUV purchases: ample luggage space and a functional third row of seating.
