Although the 2018 Kia Stinger was met with widespread acclaim for its powerful engine options and sleek design, sales have since slowed. Due to this, Kia has decided to streamline its offerings for 2023 by just offering the Apex and Grand Tourer as trim levels, along with two special editions.
To Increase Variety, New Special Editions Have Been Released
Since 2022, the Stinger has had a mid-cycle refresh. Thus its visual appearance hasn’t changed much. The GT1 version has been discontinued and replaced by the GT-Line and the top-of-the-line GT2. Also retiring in 2023, along with the rest of the Scorpion Package, are the Apex and Grand Tourer trim levels. Black exterior highlights, Brembo brakes, and faux carbon fibre trim are just a few of the features included in the Apex performance option, which is available only on the GT-Line. Although the outside of the GT2 Grand Tourer is black, the inside has a more opulent design with suede upholstery, a suede-wrapped dashboard, and red seat belt webbing, piping, and stitching.
Everything else is the same high-performance gear as in 2022. The GT-Line versions are driven by a turbocharged 2.5-litre inline-four generating 300 horsepower, while the GT2 models are equipped with a twin-turbo 3.3-litre inline-six developing 368 horsepower; both engines are paired with an eight-speed automated gearbox. The EPA estimates a city/highway/combined mileage of 22/32/25 mpg for the rear-wheel-drive four-cylinder model and a mileage of 21/29/24 mpg for the all-wheel-drive variant. With rear-wheel drive (RWD), the V-6 GT2 achieves 18/25/20 mpg, while with all-wheel drive (AWD), it achieves 17/24/20 mpg.
Now on sale is the 2023 Kia Stinger. Prices for the GT-Line begin at $37,735 (with the destination charge of $1,145), while the GT2 begins at $52,935. All-wheel drive adds $2,200, while the Apex and Grand Tourer packages cost a further $1,000.
The number of Stinger trim levels have been reduced from three in 2022 to just two for 2023: GT-Line and GT-2. The engines used by these two versions are their primary defining feature. The standard GT-Line comes with a turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that generates 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, making it quite powerful for driving in Florida. Although rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional. The GT-2 is even more potent, with 368 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque from a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 engine.
Drivers interested in purchasing a one-of-a-kind Stinger may now choose between two edgy new packages. You should get these while you can since they are limited editions. This primary bundle incorporates the GT Line’s 2.5L turbocharged engine and the line’s signature black fender garnishes, exhaust tips, and mirror caps. While enjoying the comfort of the leather seats and admiring the carbon fibre patterned inside decor, you can be confident that the track-ready Brembo Brakes® will deliver adequate stopping power. The Harman Kardon® 15-speaker premium sound system and the expansive sunroof it allows are included in the Sun & Sound Package.
A Grand Tourer Special Edition package is available for the GT-2 if interested. In addition to the unique aesthetic characteristics, it has black tailpipes and fender ornaments. With this package’s exclusive 19-inch black alloy wheels, you’ll be the centre of attention everywhere you go. Not only is the outside of this set unlike any other, but the inside is upholstered in luxurious suede with distinctive red stitching and piping.
