Pagani Rules Out EV Using Current Technology

Even if they aren’t dead yet, the days of Pagani supercars fueled by gasoline may soon end.

Pagani CEO Horacio Pagani revealed to Autocar that his company has had a team working on electric vehicles since 2018. Still, the group has not yet found a solution that Horacio Pagani likes and that customers would purchase.

In an interview with Autocar, Mr. Pagani stated, “in four years, we never found demand in the supercar market” for a Pagani electric car.

A representative for the company told a British outlet that the brand is continuing to work on the creation of electric vehicles (EVs), but that “with the technology that we have now, they are hefty and not particularly linked with arousing emotions.”

The representative claims that in 2022, it will not be possible to construct an electric Pagani weighing 1300 kg.

Pagani EV in the Works?

According to what they said to Autocar, a Pagani electric supercar has to “be faithful to the idea of being light, safe, and emotive, as well as entertaining to drive and own.”

In this day and age of hybrid and electric vehicles, the producers of supercars worldwide are now trying to figure out how to maintain the excitement and engagement of their customers behind the wheel.

The 296 GTB is Ferrari’s first series production plug-in hybrid, and the company said it would be developing an electric car soon.

The age of plug-in hybrids has begun for McLaren, while Lamborghini is getting ready to hybridise its iconic V12 flagship.

Pagani is working on an alternative supercar with an internal combustion engine that will take the place of the Huayra.

Pagani C10 Hypercar

Pagani has announced that the world premiere of the C10 hypercar will take place on September 12 in Milan.

Pagani has already said that a 6.0-litre V12 engine will power the C10 that Mercedes-AMG will supply. Depending on the driver’s preference, this engine will be paired with either a manual or automatic transmission.

Pagani has shied away from electrification to reduce overall weight, which has been a primary priority. It is anticipated that the peak power will be around 660 kW, which will make it around 40 kW more powerful than the Huayra.

Although it has produced many limited editions and spin-offs, Pagani has only ever constructed three “models” since the company was established.

The Zonda was the first, and it was shown to the public in 1999 at the Geneva auto show.

In 2010, the Huayra was released as its successor, which did away with the normally aspirated V12 engine in favour of a turbocharged one that was more powerful.

The Huayra not only increased the power available but it also advanced the design language established by the Zonda and added components such as active aerodynamics to the whole package.

When will the Pagani C10 Hypercar Premiere?

Pagani is working on an alternative supercar with an internal combustion engine that will take the place of the Huayra. Pagani has announced that the world premiere of the C10 hypercar will take place on September 12 in Milan.

According to a statement made by a spokesman to TG, “We will launch when the technology is ready,” and “the Pagani EV will be clearly and uniquely ‘Pagani. “

Just recently, towards the end of 2018, CEO Horacio Pagani revealed to us that “we have been working on a project for a car with an alternative drive,” even though not a single client has ever shown any interest in purchasing an electric or even a hybrid hypercar.

The difficulties that existed back then are still there in the same form now.  Pagani stated that this is precisely what their clientele is looking for. “A car that is easy to manoeuvre, elegant in appearance, and packed with features.”
